Powering the Future: JTMEC's Commitment to Electrification in Mining and Tunnelling

Electrification in Mining and Tunnelling

As part of the Epiroc group at JTMEC we understand the vital role we will be required to play in supporting the transformation from diesel to electrified equipment in mining, tunnelling and associated industries.

So, with that at the front of our minds we are committing some of our key employees to receive advanced training and qualifications to be able to support this equipment wherever it may be. Michael Powell (pictured below) will be the first of six employees this year who will travel to Europe and other destinations to receive this internal battery and charging training coordinated by Rocvolt (Epiroc groups zero emission division).

JTMEC General Manager Scott Bell has stated that ‘Michael and our other key employees receiving this training will be critical for us in building our capabilities to ensure we are on the front-foot and can support Epiroc and our various clients when they purchase or install battery equipment and associated infrastructure in their mines and tunnels’.

With such great employee opportunities on the horizon ‘to electrification and beyond’ will be the mantra heard in JTMEC workshops over the coming months and years!
